It is engineered to allow a single person to smoothly glide heavy covers open and closed, requiring minimal physical effort.

According to Supreme Spa & Pool and Caldera Spas, the ProLift III has specific spatial and structural requirements: 
Clearance Requirements: Requires 24 inches of back clearance and 3 inches of side clearance for proper operation.
Lifting Mechanism: Uses two pneumatic gas shocks (specifically 40lb gas springs) to provide smooth and quiet operation.
Compatibility: Designed specifically for Watkins-manufactured units (including Endless Pools Fitness Systems, Hot Spring, and Caldera Spas) that feature original covers with built-in metal reinforcement plates.
Installation: Requires a drill for installation and is mounted directly to the spa cabinet.
